Home Staging FAQs

Most of us believe our house is pretty great the way it is and a lot better
(usually) than most.  But consider this... why then, do we go into other people’s homes and critique what they’ve done (or haven’t done)?  Do people do the same to our homes?  Probably so.

The reason is that very few home owners can view their personal things objectively in order to market their house effectively – much less have the staging skills, resources and contacts.

Only a mere 10% of home buyers can actually visualize the potential of a house.  So, if someone told you could spend a few hundred today and net thousands in return a couple months later (houses over $50,000), wouldn’t it make sense to give it a try?

The key is first impressions.  The first few open houses generally have the strongest turn-out.  To maximize your house value, it needs to show at its best the first time.  If you have your house on the market now, the sooner you call, the better!

    4 BENEFITS OF HOME STAGING

Higher Offers: Studies have shown that staged homes typically sell for more money than un-staged
homes. Often the additional gain is many times what the cost of staging was.

Sell Faster: Staged homes usually sell much more quickly than un-staged homes.  If you are being transferred,
having an estate sale, or want to sell quickly for any reason, staging will help.

Beats Competition: Staged houses have an edge over competing properties and the staging can often sway the
final decision.  Satisfied buyers mean deals will follow through.

Better Images: Staged homes look better in the MLS, getting more potential buyers to actually come see
                              the house.

Questions & Answers

Q: What’s the biggest difference between staging and decorating?

Home staging de-personalizes a house so that it appeals to a larger segment of people, transforming it into a product that is ready to sell.  Our goal is to help buyers to feel the house is like that of a model home or a “hot commodity”.  How you live in your home and how you sell your house are two entirely different things.

Q: Doesn’t staging cost a lot of money?

Staging does cost a little but it usually pays twofold or more.  The average cost of a complete staging job is consistently less than the first price reduction of a house.  Many statistics tell us that staged houses sell for more money than non-staged houses.

Q: I watch HGTV; can’t I stage my own house?

It is very difficult for a homeowner to look at their own house objectively.  They are accustomed to their lifestyle and may not see things that a professional home stager looks for.  (Plus, there is a lot more that goes on behind the scenes of a TV show than the viewer sees.)

Q: Can I get a consultation and just do the work myself?

Yes.  The Room Restyler works with homeowners as much or as little as they like.  The Action Plan and Quick Report Checklist is a comprehensive summary that any “do-it-yourselfer” could do but a professional home stager will reduce your stress from trying to do it all (on top of working and living your life).

Q: Before I have my house staged, can't I put it on the market, to see how it goes, first?

Again, think about the importance of first impressions.  The first few open houses generally have the strongest turn-out.  To maximize your house value, it needs to show at its best the first time.  If you have your house on the market now, it's not too late to get help.

Q: I need more information about home staging - where should I go?
